FAQ
Topographical survey locates all surface features of a property, and depicts all natural features and elevations. Topographical survey is a detailed mapping process that captures the physical features of a landscape, including elevation, contours, and existing structures.
Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) is an important tool in modern navigation. This system uses satellites and reference stations to make GPS receivers more accurate. DGPS working as distance from minimum 4 satellites determines position, signal travel time from satellite to antenna determines the distance, calculation by base station is difference between the specified coordinates of its location and those indicated by the satellites, This difference continuously broadcasts a signal to the DGPS receiver or rover by the station, This same difference accurately determines its location by the rover
Total station: A total station is a surveying instrument that uses electronic distance measurement (EDM) to measure distances and angles between points on the ground. It can be used to measure the ground point elevation.
Laser rangefinder: A laser rangefinder is a device that uses a laser beam to measure the distance between the rangefinder and an object. It can be used to measure the elevations of points on the ground in a topographic survey.
Level: A level is a surveying instrument that is used to determine the elevation of points on the ground. It consists of a telescope mounted on a tripod and is used to take precise measurements of the height of points on the ground.
Drones are becoming a powerful tool within the mapping and surveying industry. They can effectively perform work for 3D mapping, land surveys, photogrammetry and topographic surveying with increased efficiency by flying above the ground. This information is then used to help make critical decisions about the upkeep of infrastructure, construction site.
- During drone survey, the ground is photographed several times from different angles, and each captured image is tagged with certain coordinates.
- The collected data are processed using drone mapping software to create construction assets like 3D models, 2D maps, digital elevation models, from which highly accurate measurements and volumetric calculations are taken.
Before developing a proposed land, it is critical to consider all factors under and around the land’s topography to map a successful development plan. Topographical survey provides detailed, accurate information and comprehensive data that helps eliminate risks and the likelihood of failure once the construction or excavation project begins.
